We  are Greg and Cara Samways.  We are are keen photographers who live near Chalus, SW of Limoges in West Central France.  Our farm at Joffreny is in the heart of the “Parc Natural Perigord Vert”, surrounded by fields and forest and amazing wildlife.  We have been taking photographs for years, but have recently started to seriously investigate what we can achieve with relatively simple kit, after an inspirational photographic trip to Borneo.

Our aim is to start providing B&B or Gite-based holidays in France from 2021, with lots of practical projects in wildlife photography, which could include macro-photography of insects and flowers, camera trap work with the local mammals, video diaries of our resident Barn, Tawny and Little Owls, time lapse photography of the amazing cloud formations, and even some basic astrophotography.  There is so much to photograph here!

We are surrounded by lots of amazing wildlife and photographic opportunities, in a beautiful part of France, so why not come and spend some time with us and get off of “Auto”.

In Borneo we were both shooting with Canon DSLRs and kit lenses, but were amazed at what could achieve.  It occurred to us both that there must be a lot more people out there who have a kit camera, but are still on “Auto” and just need a little nudge and some help from people who remember what it was like to be a beginner!

But it’s not all wildlife photography.  Greg is also a geologist and a musician (bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy) and Cara runs www.millersoils.fr.  So we have plenty of opportunities for folk music and dance too, and maybe even a trip to the races, if you are interested!
